I’ve seen quite a few weddings… whether in person, on other blogs or in my favorite place, print. After seeing the beautiful couple, my eye always goes immediately to the florals. I don’t know if it’s the detail lover in me or if I can’t shake my first ever job working at a florist but, I just love them. Love, love, love them.
Back story about my florist job. They didn’t actually let me arrange a thing… but, I was your go-to girl if you needed the coolers scrubbed, orders placed, buckets filled, flowers cleaned, thorns removed, etc. I spent every Saturday and everyday after high school there and pretty much all my summers home from college (thanks for keeping me employed Ross family!) So, it’s safe to say, I saw a lot of arrangements leave the building. Also, a lot of weddings. Keep in mind, weddings weren’t even on my radar then. It wasn’t until after college I got involved with photographing these amazing events but, I can’t help but think it was slowly being engrained in my mind.
I love how a bouquet looks in a brides hand. It’s almost like an extension of their personality. That might not make sense but hear me out. Often times brides (and maybe grooms) pick a color scheme for their big day. Maybe it’s a soft blush pink for the bridesmaids because she know how great it’ll look on her best girls. Maybe that could be the color that best compliments her dream wedding venue. Maybe it’s a color she had dreamed about since she was a little girl. Bouquets are also a place you can carry sentimental meaning. Whether it’s a locket with photos of loved ones that couldn’t be with you, lace from your mother’s wedding dress or a broach your grandmother wore. Your bouquet is something you carry around pretty much all day. It’s in the majority of all your photos… the photos you will look back on for the rest of your life. It’s worth the investment and it’s worth the thought. And if you have in the back of your mind ‘Why spend all that money on something that’ll die?’ Don’t. Just… don’t.
I’ve collected some of the beautiful bridal and bridesmaid bouquets from my years of doing this amazing job. I know exactly what bride/wedding is behind each photograph. Like I said, extensions of their personalities. Future brides or those who just like pretty flowers like me, PIN YOUR HEART OUT.
