So it’s the new trend… A gender reveal party! For those of you who don’t know what it is, it’s a gathering of your closest family and friends to find out the sex of your baby. No one knows… not the parents or guests – just the one trusted person who throws the party! My cousin Lindsay and her boyfriend Darius are expecting their first child together in January. They wanted to throw one of these parties. So, Lindsay went for her sonogram and immediately came to my work with a sealed envelope. I felt pretty honored to be the only one who knew… Well, me and my 3 coworkers because they were watching me open the envelope haha. This. Was. Torture! I had to keep the secret for a whole week… from my family! Ugh! They spread news like wild fire so I knew I couldn’t say a word. Luckily, I had a busy week of prepping for the party and an upcoming wedding I stayed distracted.
The fun part of the gender reveal parties is how to do the reveal. Usually only one person knows and they have to come up with a fun way to reveal such a huge surprise. I’ve seen cakes with pink or blue icing inside, a box with pink or blue balloons inside you open, picking a paint color for a boy or girl and have the nursery painted in that color…. Well, we opted for silly string! Was it a hot mess? Yes. Was it fun? Yes! Huge thank you to my mom for helping me a TON with the food… If you’ve had Cindy Culberson food, you know it’s good! Enjoy this fun post! Now we can plan the baby shower! Love you, Lindsay!!
Everyone casted their vote!
Ok. So, I know the below photo isn’t anything spectacular. But, that is my dad on the left and Lindsay’s dad on the right. They’re TWINS. Some of us thought she may get that gene!
Cans of silly string all ready to go! For anyone wondering, they were wrapped in white scrap vinyl from work – it worked perfectly!
Time for the reveal!!!
BOY!!!!
I framed their sonogram so they could have some proof!
Some people wore pink – some wore blue. It was a lot of fun!
Congratulations you two!
This looks like so much fun. I am holding on to some maternity announcement pictures for a friend and noone knows shes pregnant yet. The anticipation of them telling their families is killing me; so I understand your excitement. 🙂
Fun! It was definitely tough! But worth it in the end 🙂
I can not thank you and your mom enough for what you have done for Darius and I! We are truly blessed to have you in our life and I can’t wait for Mekai to be just as blessed as us! Thank you for being the sister I never had! XoXo
