Benji’s back!!! You may remember him from the past years. You can view his pictures here and here. You can really tell how much he’s grown up (and I know his mom, Sylvie, wishes she could stop time). Sylvie always picks the best locations! This year she didn’t disappoint! Old Town Manssas was a wonderful spot! And she brought some really great props. It kept Benji extra entertained! Cody & Bryce | Harrisonburg Mini-Session

Last weekend after Johanna and Sam‘s engagement session in Harrisonburg, I met up with some old friends for dinner. After catching up with Cody and Bryce, we decided to snap a few pictures before the sun went down. We literally took these in 5 minutes… on the side of the highway… by Panera. So, no judging. Enjoy! ANGELICA | FREDERICKSBURG SENIOR PORTRAITS

I can’t believe I’m writing this post. It’s official. Angelica is a SENIOR. WHAT?!?! I know people say, Oh my gosh, it was just yesterday you were a little girl, yada, yada. I get it. Angelica (Jelly!) is my younger cousin. She is the eldest of the West team and I can NOT believe she will be off to college in a year. I really took a step back when she drove to visit me at work not too long ago… it was weird. You wanted a piggy back ride, like yesterday…how the heck are you driving?! Angelica is super sweet. Extra sweet! If you need anything, she would do whatever she could to help you. Angelica did two things I wish I did when I was a senior. 1. Early admission. She applied and was accepted to Longwood University – BEFORE her senior year. Genius! College essays and applications to stress about while trying to enjoy her last high school year? Nope! She knows EXACTLY where she’s going and can sit back and enjoy her last year at Colonial Forge! 2. Senior pictures NOT in a studio! No stuffy awkward indoor sessions and boring black back drops. We had a blast outside, multiple outfit changes and lots of laughs! I hope you enjoy her pictures! Enjoy your senior year, Jelly! I love you so very much!

Mandy & Josh | Richmond Portrait Photographer

I have a dear spot in my heart for Mandy. We spent way too many weekends watching countless softball games… getting sunburned, retrieving gatorades for the boys, traveling all the time. But, between all that, I got to know Mandy and I can truly say she is one of the sweetest women I know. And hands down, an amazing mother. Josh, her son, is awesome. That pretty much sums him up. I mean, he has a mohawk. Need I say more? Definitely a fun kid to be around! For her birthday, Mandy was given a mother-son shoot (love this idea!) So, we met at the Canal Walk in Richmond. It was a bit warm, but we made it work. Minus the dumb dumb that backed into my car, I loved that place! Hint, hint Richmond readers. Hope you enjoy some of my favorites from the day!

CNU Girls | Graduation Portraits

I remember the day I graduated from ODU. My brothers wanted me to leave as soon as I got the paper so they didn’t have to sit in the stands anymore. Typical. Either way, it was a whirlwind and just like that it was over… enter the real world, please. Those past 4 years were the time of my life and I met 3 girls who will forever be my best friends. I miss them and those days ALL the time. When my cousin Sara contacted me to take pictures of her and her best friends for graduation I instantly thought what a genius idea! I wish I had that done. Sara and her BFF Sarah (Sarah H is how they differentiate) worked super hard to get their degrees and you better believe they wanted to document it! Sara, Sarah and Liz took me around the Christopher Newport campus. What a beautiful place. I’ve visited before, but so many more buildings have been built since the last time I was there. They rocked some captains gear and despite the heat, we got some great shots of their friendship, Sara’s unbelievably proud parents and boyfriend. Congrats Sara and Sarah!!!!

I’m loving all these repeat kiddos! First Kiera now Benji! Sylvie contacted me to do some family pictures at a favorite spot of hers. I fell in love with that place! It’s just SO pretty. Bridal portraits anyone?! Yes, please! If you’re ever up in the Manassas area be sure to check out the Henry Hill Visitors Center. Sylvie and Benji just spent a month in France with her family. She was happy to report back that Benji is almost bi-lingual. How awesome is that?! This go around he wasn’t nearly as shy and was equally as cute! Thanks Jacobs family! You all were wonderful! Hope you enjoy your pictures!

hahaha. It was as funny as it looks. And no, we did not hang Benji in the tree – he was just sitting… really awkwardly.

Kiera | 2 Year Old Portraits

Remember Kiera?! She’s back, just turned 2 and trying so very hard to have a conversation! Little miss is some kind of determined and independent. She WILL put her shoes on, she WILL carry the giant shopping bag and she WILL put those sunglasses on. No help, puh-lease! (Keep it up Kiera…you’ll need that mind frame later in life) After a fun filled day with her cousins and the Easter bunny, Mandi and Kiera met me in Ladysmith Village to get some pictures! Girl was tired… I don’t blame her. Those Easter egg hunts are exhausting! She was a trooper, though, and stuck it out. Promises of the playground resulted in serious cuteness! Hope you enjoy! Baby Luke | Fairfax Station Newborn Photographer

Remember Laura and Dave?! Meet their newest edition, Luke! ADORABLE is really they best way to describe him. Little Luke came a month early and I think it’s because he knew his mom had had enough. Laura spent the majority of her pregnancy with a PICC line in her arm. I don’t know the medical-ness behind it but, a needle in your arm for 8 months sounds miserable. Well, all her patience paid off – he’s here! And healthy! And has the prettiest blonde hair! Thanks Laura and Dave for keeping me around for these super important events in your lives! First your wedding – now your first born! Love, love you guys! Enjoy my favorites of Little Luke. Fair warning – your heart will melt.

Stroud Family | Part I

When I met with Mandi a few weeks ago she mentioned her sister, Jennifer, may want some photos taken of her family. If she was anything like Mandi I knew she would be super nice. I was right. I got a facebook message from Jennifer not long after Kiera’s session to set a date for photos. Thennnn she wrote – do you know anywhere with graffiti? The kids have rocker outfits. HELLLOOOO awesome! I was SO excited! Little did I know she had 2 amazing outfits for them. I seriously wish this stuff was around when I was a little kid. My terribly embarrassing studio pictures may not have been so bad…. Anywho, I met the Stroud family in downtown Fredericksburg behind the train tracks for the first part of the session. Olivia took a while to warm up – but little did she know her I don’t want to smile face was still way cute. They were game to climb anywhere and I am so thankful for that. Enjoy Part I of their session! Part II coming tomorrow!
